Big Tobacco Chalks Off Another Free Speech Victory
Every now and then, the FDA needs a good kick in the balls and today, a federal judge did just that, when he ruled that the government may be going too far by requiring tobacco brands to plaster gross-looking images all over their products.
Like the horrific posters that New York City tried to make deli owners hang, but were ultimately struck down, Judge Richard Leon said the displays threaten the companies’ free speech.
He is temporarily blocking the implementation of the warning labels measure, which is great news even if you hate cigarettes and don’t smoke. For now, he has pushed back the FDA’s September 22, 2012 deadline so he can determine just how unconstitutional it is.

Free speech? Since when does that apply to NOT talking? As in not informing you of the shitty things that will happen when you use said product. It’s funny how people think excercising their right to ignore reality somehow only affects them and no one else.
