Occupation Roundup: Day 61

Keeping up with the Occupy Wall Street protest movement is a daunting task for news outlets big and small, so from here on in, we’ll be doing a daily roundup of the latest goings-on. (Photo: ANIMALNewYork)
Day 61
- Last night, Liberty Plaza was reoccupied, but anyone entering the area had go through an extremely selective screening process implemented by Brookfield Properties’ private security team and backed up by the NYPD: Anyone with a large backpack, sleeping bag or in one case, a coffee, was denied entry. Marine Sergeant Shamar Thomas was happy the plaza was open, but he’s still not thrilled with the NYPD. See his rant below
- Reminder: OWS is still planning to shut down Wall Street tomorrow and is asking supporters to gather in Liberty Square at 7AM.
- Their encampment may be in ruins, but Occupy Wall Street now has some office space.
- Dickhead politician and terrorist sympathizer, Congressman Peter King, didn’t disappoint his base in his insulting description of OWS protesters.
- Everyone wants to know what happened to the books that were in the People’s Library before it was torn apart, some of which included religious texts.
- Reporter Harry Siegel says the NYPD and Mayor Bloomberg have once again empowered Occupy Wall Street and could be just the type of sudden jolt the movement needed.
- Shepard Fairey told the Observer he’s totally down with OWS. Awesome, can’t wait to see the OBEY t-shirt for sale that shows his commitment.
- Here’s an extremely short and bizarre NSFW video that’s entitled: “Angelina Jolie occupies New York.“
- In a show of solidarity with their brethren up north, Occupy D.C. “briefly” demonstrated in a building owned by Brookfield Properties.
- This lede pretty much sums up the horrific actions of police at Occupy Seattle: “An elderly woman, a pregnant woman and a priest were among those who were pepper-sprayed during a protest in support of the Occupy movement on Tuesday.”
- Just in time, dictionary.com explains the origins of the word “occupy,” informs the internet that it was historically used to describe sexual relations as in “to occupy a woman.”
Marine Sergeant Shamar Thomas:

Whatever you think of Olberman, this epic rant about Bloomberg is a must watch…
