The city is pretty much doomed by the year 2080, according to a a new report on climate change. That’s about when New Yorkers can expect severe floods due to steadily rising sea levels. On the upside, it could finally rid the subway system of rats, but on the downside, it would make transit impossible whether by train or car, since all the tunnel crossings would also become impassable. The study was conducted by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and despite it including research by dozens of scientists, it will likely be ignored by the right. The “Occupy Bloomberg’s Mansion Drum Circle Protest And Love-In Art Show” has begun. As promised on their Facebook page, protesters attempted to assemble at East 79th Street in front of Mayor Bloomberg’s mansion to annoy the shit out of him (and neighbors), but the entire block is cut off and the NYPD is not allowing anyone through.
