Scribbled Line People

There’s a very techie explanation as to why these portraits of perty ladies (and a cowboy) look like they’ve degenerated into partial, porous digital silhouettes, but just like you don’t need science to write science fiction, you don’t need to know all that junk to enjoy the cyberpunkish visual aesthetic: stringy facial shreds, mega-polydactyl limbs, whoah ho-ho, etc. A collaborative effort of designers Ayaka Ito, Randall Church and some RIT students, the Scribbled Line People were created using HDRI sphere lighting, a 3D flash drawing app, some intricate channel rendering, blah blah blah.

Don’t bring these jello grenades and gilded candle machine ammunition rounds to a gun fight. Or even a knife fight, because your brass knuckles o’ wheat toast will just get buttered and then also you will die. Check out these nifty mock weapons from photographer Kyle Bean, featured in his new “Soft Guerilla” spread for Cut Magazine dedicated to guerrilla gardening and yarn bombing. They’re not for fighting, but for chortling at, sophisticatedly. Kyle’s crafty like that.

After making a bloody Lindsay Lohan suck off a gun, slapping Mischa Barton’s face with meat and playing domestic violence cosplay with a Gleek, celebrity photog Tyler Shields has finally done something impressive. Behold: Blonde bombshells pepper spraying SWAT guys as an homage to the notorious UC Davis cop bully with a badge. The paparazzi snap away at it. Everyone is dressed like it’s a Fellini film. Manhattan’s city grid and its amazingly functional, mystically aesthetic, and borderline occult qualities are currently being worshiped at the Museum of the City of New York with historic artifacts, hand-drawn maps and more neat stuff. Hop on over to the sister exhibit of futuristic schemes to accommodate a million more predicted New Yorkers. See some far-out fantasies like the Tabula Fluxus — a second city grid growing 700-feet above ours, Inception style — or the Projective Exceptions — the proposed cramming of various rounded structures into every street corner orifices or crevice possible.
