Beds in the Middle of Nowhere

No, this isn’t one of Storm Thorgerson’s photographic props left behind by the A Momentary Lapse of Reason beach-side bed parade for Pink Floyd. This is real. It’s really there, now. New York-based artist Lisa Ross has traveled to Xinjiang, China to photograph the beds left unoccupied during the day by the farmers who sleep in the field to tend to their crops. Read more »

A Brooklyn college student says he was the victim of an NYPD sting operation when he was duped him into buying a new iPhone for $20 and then arrested. According to Rob Tester, 19, the man selling the device said he needed the cash for Christmas and never mentioned it was stolen. The Graphic Artists Guild is officially withdrawing its support for the H.R.3261 Stop Online Piracy Act, a.k.a. the first American internet censorship bill. Sure, they were hot for protecting intellectual property, but since SOPA “may do more harm than good,” the Guild has come to its senses… after reading all those emails and tweets “expressing dissent” at them.
