This Paint Dropped Into Water Looks Magnificent, Ooh, Ahh


Ooh, colors. Colors going boom; colors that look like mushroom clouds and jelly fish and stacks of smoke; colors that drip, build, melt and reach out with sinewy tendrils… Thought you could use something vivid to look at in the middle of the day, so here’s the Aqueous series. British photographer Mark Mawson is an underwater specialist, meaning, he plays around dropping DayGlo paint into a tank of water and photographing it with a strobe light. Other stuff that looks great underwater: Roses, butterflies, models of shipwrecks, human organs, piss-soaked crucifixes…
