138th Street Station In The Bronx Stinks

The only thing worse than waiting for a late night train on a boiling hot subway platform is also being subjected to a gag-inducing odor wafting through the air. So, if you’re waiting for the 4 or 5 trains in Mott Haven, bring your gas mask along because apparently the station reeks.

Transportation Alternatives ran a survey and found that a whopping 35% of people polled responded with Grand Concourse as their choice for the “smelliest subway station.”

The Herald Square station landed at second place on the list with an equally impressive 32% of the vote. It’s unbelievable that all of the tourists on their merry way to Macy’s don’t cover up the city smells with their country funk — or maybe that’s the problem in the first place. Surprisingly, the Dekalb Stop on the L didn’t make the list. It totally stinks like the greasy-ass fried chicken place that’s right over the station’s entrance. In fact, the L seems to be getting a pass on all these “surveys” lately. (Photo: SubwayNut)
