Despite the possibility that terrorists could use them or even worse, cyclists, Manhattan Community Board 11 is overwhelmingly supportive of protected bike lanes for East Harlem. They voted 5 to 1 in favor of the DOT’s plan to install a traffic calming design from 96th to 125th Street on both First and Second Avenues. The style of the lanes would mimic the ones on First Avenue below 34th Street.
