So there’s been a lot of discussions about Harold Camping and his insistence that the Rapture begins on May 21st, with the majority of people dismissing the preacher as a crazy ‘ol kook while refusing to say the same about the religion that concocted this end times theory in the first place.
The bigger story here is Christianity’s theological insanity, not some guy buying up billboard space. Anyone who thinks that Jesus Christ is returning to Earth to judge humanity and then throw all the haters into a lake of fire needs to have their head examined. The only real difference between them and Camping is that he says it’s happening tomorrow. (Photo: Urban Christian News/flickr)

RIGHT ON. All religious "moderates" do is provide a context for this type of insanity. I'm all for freedom of speech, but everyone needs to be more critical of its foundations in the first place. Irrational thought should be condemned no matter what the base it stands on.
Dear youngster going through “fuck the man” stage,
I’m far from being Christian. Not even close. But to tie in that Camping’s troupe bares any reflection of what Christ taught shows little education. Learn some shit before you spray paint ‘screw this and that”. Its easy to twist stuff out of the Bible and get fanatical about it. However, you did it too in your post.(Check last few sentences). Some Christians are shithouse rat crazy, some practice the teachings of Christ and don’t believe any of that stuff you wrote above. Be careful about blanket statements. You lose credibility with people over 24 or kids that paid attention in critical thinking 101. Again, I’m not even in the same realm as Christianity so I’m not aeffected personally. I just cringe at bad “journalism” or wannabe journalist. This reminded me of a Kerri F post it was so weak.
The End Times, Armageddeon, and the Rapture are all major components of Christian theology and just a few of the crazy-ass concepts thats Camping and Christians believe. This is undebatable.
Show me a quote where that is in Jesus’ teaching. Lemme narrow your search. Jesus didn’t write the New Testament. But his teachings are in portions of it.
Now you're being pedantic about semantics, feel free to carry on this conversation by yourself.
I accept your admission of defeat. Carry on.
I heard a cool chick with glasses is painting boobs with a bike tire in the subway. Get on it Bucky. Scoop that story!
