A tipster sent us a photo of a peacock on the ledge of a building on 5th Avenue and 65th Street, which happens to be right across the street from the Central Park Zoo. Is it trying to make a run for it like its captive colleague from the Bronx? Developing.
The Central Park Zoo has confirmed that a peacock has escaped, but it’s not a threat. Also leave it alone:
A male peafowl or peacock has wandered from the Central Park Zoo. The peacock poses no danger to anyone. To ensure a good outcome in this situation, we ask everyone not to follow or harass the bird if they see him. We are hopeful he will either fly back to the zoo or we will retrieve him nearby. Thanks for your cooperation.
