What happened to the baby? That seems to be the question on everyone’s mind after watching the clip we posted earlier of two people battling it out on the L train as a baby stroller belonging to one of the women rolls out of the subway car doors. Luckily, straphanger Carolina Miranda has the answers.
She witnessed the pandemonium and gave us a full account of what went down after the vertically-shot video abruptly ended:
The fight started in the video you saw, which was in the car next to mine. Then it stopped for a bit (where the video ends) and then it started up again. People started running out onto the platform and yelling at the conductor to call the cops. The conductor holds the train.
The women then both somehow ended up on the platform and they start shouting to each other again. The woman with the baby was holding onto the stroller and yelling about “if you touch my baby i’ll fuck you up” or something to that effect. The fight started up again and baby is left in the stroller on the platform. People are yelling and running around like Chicken Littles. Baby in the meantime, is in the stroller on the platform. (I can’t see much because I’m inside the train.)
Fight then stumbles into my car, a bunch of us run off the train. Then the fight goes back onto the platform, so a bunch of us get back on the train. The whole time the baby was on the platform about 15 feet away. But again, I couldn’t see exactly what was going on because the fighting was obscuring my view. At some point, the women split up. The mother is on the platform and the woman in white is on my car and they’re screaming at each other. and that’s when the conductor closes the doors to separate them. (I was in the conductor’s car.) Then lady in white starts freaking out and banging on the glass.
They held us in the station for a bit and then pulled away. I presume the mom and her baby remained on the platform. I couldn’t tell. But the lady in white who was in my car kept wigging out. I moved to another car because she seemed pretty out of her mind and I just didn’t want to deal.
While they were fighting there was tons of yelling and running around, so it was hard to totally get a handle on what was going on. There were lots of “fuck” and “the baby” and “call the cops” being yelled. These women were crazy fierce, punching each other, bashing each other’s heads against subway walls and basically chasing each other up and down the car.

I am a tv news reporter doing a story on this ugly episode. If anyone reading this blog saw the fight, I'd be interested in talking with you. Drop me a quick email: chris.glorioso@nbcuni.com
yo Chris… I have a better video then this one, but I want 5 grand for it.
5 grand for a video involving no celebrities, politicians, or other important people which depicts a story which will be forgotten about come a week from now…
Good luck with that.
The Department of Social Services (Protection of Children) needs to see that video. That woman should not have a child.
A co-workers daughter was on the train and has it on video as well
Can you have them contact me? bucky@animalnewyork.com
And let me guess, the cops never came. We called the cops this past Saturday in the East Village while watching a 15 minute long bar fight that spilled outside on Bowery. People were bloody, punches thrown, lots of outside yelling and no less than 4 people, including me, all called 911. The cops never came, but an ambulance showed up 20 minutes after the fight ended. I guess the East Village police are too busy cozying up to drunk college girls in their apartments.
…………….more like cozying up to college boys
next time tell the police they have guns
The east village cops are THE worst. They are among the most negligent and they were also the precint where the two cops got off the Rape.I live in alaphabet city and that precint and too many complaints against them to count. They are worthless and dont give a fuck about anything but getting laid and eating fucking doughnuts. They also have a history of beating up drug dealers and hookers and handling things mob style
That was a 'full account?" More like most annoying 'eyewitness' description ever:
"People are yelling and running around like Chicken Littles. Baby in the meantime, is in the stroller on the platform. (I can’t see much because I’m inside the train.)"
"But again, I couldn’t see exactly what was going on because the fighting was obscuring my view."
"While they were fighting there was tons of yelling and running around, so it was hard to totally get a handle on what was going on"
Oh shush up. You probably complain about the sky being blue too.
Why did it take the so long for the fight to be broken up? Not to be sexist, but there were a few able-bodied men who should have done the gentlemanly thing and stopped the fight.
it appears that everyone waited until one little old guy tries to stop them. then people start to join in, thankfully. videographer was too busy w/video to help.
Are you kidding me. Try and break up a fight and get hit. Let these idiots hurt themselves. Gentemanly? You act like a gentleman with ladies, do you see any ladies here?
"them"
No point in being a gentleman when uncivilized "animals" don't even know what the word means.
No need for the quotation marks around animals, Joe, that's what they are. No need to be politically correct here.
Your racism makes you sound bitter and ignorant.
Yeah I'm pretty much wondering why people left the baby "15 feet" from the platform. I mean how hard would it have been to get out. Push the stroller away from the fight and make sure its out of harms way. I'm also not really sure why 10-15 men and women couldn't break up a fight between two women. The Eye witnesses are the ones annoying me most to be honest.
People don't want to insert themselves between two crazy animals that are fighting. It's survival instinct.
Why do people keep calling these women "animals"? You rarely see comments like that when men are fighting. Especially if they're WHITE.
how many videos are there of crazy white bitches macing each other and fighting?
The amount of anger and frustration in these communities is often a side effect of poverty and other marginalizations. Rather than taping people fighting and making fun of them or judging them, wouldn't our time be better spent helping make the people who need it healthy and whole again?
Well, they were being animals. Anyone who fights that way is an animal, regardless of gender or color. It's appalling.
I find your snap judgement and lack of empathy appalling.
Its the racist way, Andrea. White girls fight also, but blacks take the subway more often so that is where you will see a lot of their interactions. Go to bars, clubs and the streets outside of them where white people frequent and you will see white people fight. Its that simple.
Hey, you wanna be involved and later on be named in some crazy-assed lawsuit??
WHY DO YOU THINK THE CONDUCTOR DOESN'T GET OUT AND DO ANYTHING HIM (OR HER) SELF???
Phuckit, but with Al Sharpton and Norman Siegal runnin' around scarin' even The Deep Pockets, you think they wouldn't hesitate to streamroll all over you??
I can't believe no right-minded adult went and sat with the child, as to make sure they were okay and weren't about to roll onto the tracks.
And risk having both women turn on you for "touching the baby"?
Exactly. You know how folks love to shoot the messenger: no good deed will go unpunished!
They can't have been right-minded to behave as they did. Period.
They both should be arrested for disorderly conduct and child endagerment, shame on them
None of my business, beasts can have at it, no way I would have gotten involved in any way.
Hate to say it but tickyul is absolutely right. I mean, if I saw someone being stabbed or beaten, sure I'd call cops or try to get help and not just stand around filming it. But get involved physically? Aww hell no. I'm 5'1" and a woman and if those two beasts were wigged out enough to ignore the fact that a baby had rolled away, ain't no way in hell I'd risk getting my hair or outfit pulled to step in. Nope. Heaven forbid some bodily fluid is flinging around. Nope, not me. And I mean that.
Seriously? People are so quick to judge? Easy I guess sitting at your computer. A fight with two insane trash talking people, willing to let a kid get hurt and your trapped in a subway? You get out of the way. You don't what weapons are around. People did try to separate them and others (per the report) did watch the baby. But if people are crazy enough to do this, its not fair to ask others to put their personal safety at risk..
"Oh won't somebody please think of the children?"
-Maud Flanders
-Helen Lovejoy
I would have taken the child outside of the station away from the madness and called police
Not your call to take someone else's baby!
No you wouldn't, because then that would be kidnapping!
huh check and check. they did
Tickyul – WORD! These ain’t women. They’re 200 pound black women. Have any of you ‘why didn’t the bystanders break it up’ people seen nyc black women? No joke.
I’d rather fight a 200 pound black dude mano-a-mano than a black woman…let alone two.
How ignorant a comment, sk. Really. Just ignorant.
tickyul the animal in blue is spanish the woman in white is Black BiG DIFFRENCE…
Their race is irrelevant. However, the fact that they were both clearly large, tough, and not in their right minds is completely relevant, and I agree that only an idiot would insert themselves into such a situation.
These women are at least 300 pounders!
Save it for Maury Povich idiots! So glad im not in america. how embarrassing!
With that attitude, I speak for all Americans when I say I'm glad you're not in America either.
Asshole.
what they are TRYING to say Michele is no one in there right mind would fight over a seat, over here we would just give our seat up to the women with the baby, never in my life have i ever seen two women act so badly (not saying americans act bad, just these two people) and as the other comments seem to indercate calling the police seems to not even be an option as they didnt show up,
Just as all Americans don't act like this (in fact MOST americans don't), I'm sure that not all Australians are paragons of seat giving up virtue either. Let's be fair here. I am so tired of the Attitude that all bad things are uniquely American.
All I'm saying is take care making judgmental generalizations about an entire nationality, particularly if you are not even that nationality.
So it's only okay when MEN act so badly?
They weren't fighting over a seat, as these racists would have you believe. The lady in white was defending herself because as is clearly depicted in the video, the woman in blue maced her very thoroughly and with no regard to the welfare of her child or the other riders in the same subway car. So the woman in the white had every right to get angry and immediately retaliate especially knowing how slow police response time is a call about an altercation which does not involve a deadly weapon. Had the lady in white never defended herself the woman in blue would have gotten away scott-free with her misdeed.
if i were there i would have tried to step in and break up the fight instead of watching two idiots smack each other. my question is… why didnt anyone break up the fight? this answers alot of questions about how commuters react to situations like this. very shameful to say the least.
Have any of you lived in NYC? You learn not to get involved. I mean they are seriously crazy because they didn't care a baby was in the middle of it, so why should you? Plus, didn't you hear about the woman who got stabbed when she told a homeless guy to stop smoking in the subway car?
You don't get involved because you don't want to get hurt. There is no way you could have talked those women down…I mean are you really going to tackle one of them or physically restrain one of them? You'll get sued, if you have money.
At first the mace that was in the air was bothering the nearby riders. Second, people were probably secretly amused to see the macer get her comeuppance. No one should go around macing people and then be unprepared for retaliation.
Yo Yo those two are my sisters and I can tell you all that they not be fighting over no chair they be fighting over me. I slept with both of their mans and they blame eachother for not making their man happy by doing the things that I do

Man, We could really use Captain Afterthought on this.
Isn't it Captain Hindsight? Bad attempt, you have derailed.
Let me just share a quick story. I'm over 40 now but I was about15 years old living in New York at the time and my then best friend (a guy) had given me a gold chain that his grandfather had given to him when he went into the Army. It was the only jewelry I wore. It was a real intricate and old chain type link style, not at all thick, but you could clearly see it was unique and not new.
I was sitting on the subway on my way home from my summer secretarial job and I was right by the doors, only a few stops from my house. I'll never forget that it was supposed to have rained that day so many had umbrellas, the long ones with the cane style handle. Now I was about the same size I am now, (5'1" and size 4) so I wasn't a scrappy brawling chick.
Well, just as the doors were about to close after the last stop, I felt a hard tug on my neck. My head jerked to my right and I turned to see this skinny crackhead looking dude with his body between the doors and his right hand trying to snatch the chain off my neck. it wouldn't break. So he tugged, and tugged, and tugged. It felt like forever, but it was really only seconds. As he's still trying to break the chain, I now looked directly across from me and there's a grown well-bodied man with an umbrella just sitting there looking at this happen. I mean, he didn't even slightly flinch or say a word and while I was looking at him, he was looking right in my eyes. I swear I never felt so afraid in my life. To be in broad daylight, petite and with a train full of commuters and all they did was look.
The chain finally broke and I still have the scar that looks like I tried to commit suicide as the chain cut into my neck. I couldn't even scream. The train just pulled off like normal and after I caught my breath, I refused to sit there in front of the same people who showed absolutely no concern and cry. So I got up, slowly walked in between cars and just cried until I got to the next stop and asked the conductor to get the police to file a report. I didn't want my best friend to think I lost the chain any other way.
That was over 25 years ago and to think that even then it seems people had just numbed to crime. The man wasn't even inside the train so one strong whack on the hand with the handle of an umbrella or hell even a poke in the eye from inside the train would have done the deal. But no one stood up for me.
I don't know what's coming of a sense of community. If the guy had a gun or was burly, that I could understand. But if I (MYSELF) were a witness to that and I was sitting across from that person, so help me, YES, I would have acted. He was clearly not a threat. Just thinking about it now pisses me off all over again.
I understand choosing your battles, but choosing none? That's not cool. It's just not cool.
That's truly upseting. Breaks my heart that these things happen. When someone broke into my apartment last year, the one thought that got me through the grief was 'that person has more problems than me'. Hopefully that's the last time something like that happened to you.
I agree. Today's society is all about "every man for himself" instead of stepping up to help others. Very sad.
I feel for you Patricia. What makes me really upset is the thought that if the chain didn't come off and the man decided to just yank you off the train and take you somewhere until he could get it off your neck. Would those assholes just sat there watching holding their Mary Poppins umbrellas?
These two chicks, and I'm being generous, I don't know if I would have jumped into that fray. New York being the way it is today, you try to be a good samaritan and end up being eulogized about how you died a hero or a senseless death. Your battle is one I would have chosen, but this one with these two…..I'm not so sure I would have done any more than make certain the baby was out of harms way.
Yeah… because you'd really die trying to break up a fight between two unarmed women… *rolls eyes*
What's the point of breaking a fight here? It's not like one is attacking the other. They're willingly fighting, making asses of themselves. If you are their friend, of course you will try to break the fight. If not, no reason to get involved.
Now the baby, that's another story.
It's sad that our society has become like this, but sadly I can't say i would have stepped in. Who knows what weapons these people carry? Who knows if they're high on drugs and aren't thinking rationally? I've seen people be sued for breaking up fights…. sexual harrassment? You bet. I have a family and can't afford to be behind bars or dead. If you touch the kid you get labled as a sexual predator for life and put away for kidnapping. This is the world we live in.
What does you being short have to do with any thing? So would a taller woman/man be more deserving of not getting help? You're not entitled to being rescued by strangers because you're barely over 5'
However, it is very irritating that you were violated/robbed. That shouldn't happen to anyone – regardless of how tall/small they are.
We have seen this many comments on Animal since the days of Kari Ferrell. I wonder how she's doing.
I know you meant "haven't seen". LOL!
yeah, baby.
Actually, I just looked at this video again and I hate to say it but the woman in white clearly had the right to jump up and beat the hell out of that woman with the baby. She really did spray something in her eyes. You can see when she reaches over just before the fight begins. Hell, if someone did that to me, yeah, I'd jump up, too. Someone sprays something in my eyes and then just gets up and walks away?
Just too crazy. Baby mama knows she's wrong. She was wrong. Clearly. The words being exchanged – eh, it's New York. I've seen that. But spraying someone in the eyes, that would make anyone jump I believe. Just for the sheer shock alone.
If people would take the time to actually watch and listen to the video instead of just shooting off at the mouth with vile and racist comments they would see and HEAR that the woman in white was clearly provoked by having had mace sprayed directly into her face by the one in blue. I don't blame her for coming up swinging. Had she not, the woman in blue would have just walked away like nothing. Mind you, her baby was right there ingesting mace particles and so was everyone else on that side of the subway car.
sorry- but these types are dangerous. i'm 5 foot four, like 127 and i have been attacked 3 rimes by beast s like thse since moving to nyc. they are disgusting. also? that baby should have been her first responsibility, not slapping someone over an imagined slight. strangely enough, while these creatures roam new york with ababndon, they are overly sensitinve and will attack over things that normal people don't care about.
steer clear of them and their progeny.
You sound like a nasty little fat fuck yourself – I'm 5'9 and 117. Maybe if you weren't a Twinkie eating out-of-towner with a superiority complex, you wouldn't get your fat ass beat so often, hm?
Skinny or fat, who gives a sht. Fk all you ignorant unemployed hood rats bitches.
THE ANIMAL IN BLUE THAT DOES NOT GIVE A F@#@ ABOUT HER BABY IS SPANISH THE DEFENDER IS A BLACK WOMAN IN WHITE.
To me it looked like the mother was attacked and then was trying to get away from the fight, screaming "My baby! Let go! My baby!" Yes, she probably should not have cursed at the person who took her seat in the first place, but let's face it, we all lose our cool a little sometimes.
Please quit perpetuating this "horrible mom" bullshit. Not productive AT ALL.
Oh wait… I'm sure all of you are PERFECT parents who have never made a bad decision, right?
When you pepper spray/hairspray, whatever it was to a person for something so meaningless, you have to expect that person is going to physically defend themselves. Bottom line, you don't pull stunts like that EVER, let alone when you have your child with you.
lordy.. everyone is speaking without knowing.. the black lady asked the hispanic lady if her child could move over so that she can have a seat because there was room, the hispanic lady started cursing at her telling her not to touch her baby.. when the very big hispanic lady was getting off the train she maced the black lady.. so the black lady retaliated. The cops did come but by the time they showed up the conductor had to keep the train moving and let the hispanic lady go and the black lady did make a report for the cops. The cops are not in eveyr train station, the NYPD has not hired in a couple of years and the cops are covering bigger areas then ever, you want cops to get there immediately ask your mayor why there has been a 5 year freeze on hiring NYPD.
Bull#$&^ The video clearly shows the woman in blue shaking with anxity and talking, she mase's the woman in white which starts the phiscal fight .. In this world you have the right to get angry but masing someone and not thinking about the outcome is bogus when you are with a child. Now if she was alone and some s#@% when down then that would be diffrent (and no there are no perfect parents in this world only those that are responsible and those that are not she clearly is not.she could and should have put her anger aside for her childs sake.one must think before they act! not only because of the child but for her safety as well.
THE VERY BIG HISPANIC WOMAN WANTED ALL THE SPACE FOR HER SELF, BEING A BIG GREADY #I^@@
If somebody sprayed me with anything, I would go into attack mode, just as an automatic defense. Although, I would have gotten up if there wasn't enough room for her fat bum and just let her have the seat anyhow. Can't be bothered fighting for 20 minutes of sitting.
On the L train, I have seen grown men pee themselves, I've seen a man try and rip a gold chain off of a woman neck (unlike the previous poster people actually aided her), and much more. One of the worst experiences I had was when a 6'5" man started going off on this guy for grazing his arm more than once. It was a crowded train, it was an accident. He went on a long rant about how while everybody else in Brooklyn is now a fagg*t, that doesn't mean we are all allowed to touch him with our dirty gay hands. It was much more cold, much more directive, and very uncalled for. I stood there and couldn't believe that with all these big men on the train, I was going to have to say something. So I just looked at the guy and yelled, "We get it, we get it. Seriously, WE GET IT!"
Of course, then he turned to me. He told me to shut my dyke mouth and if I opened it again he'd spit all over my face. He said, "That's right, I'll get up in your face and spit right in it. What the hell are you gonna do then you stupid bitch?"
He proceeded to harass me and threaten me until he got off the train a couple stops later. When he got up, he tried to intimidate me with his posture. Now I'm 5'10" without heels on, but there is no amount of women in me that could physically take a man of that size. I was terrified, but I don't know if I could have kept my mouth shut. Apparently, not a single other person on the train with me that day has the same convictions. Even the man I stood up for let the guy threaten me. Pretty lame, neighbors. Yes, continue to pretend to read your New Yorker. Don't worry, I will still look out for my neighbors even if some of them don't have my back.
Everyone commenting that someone should have jumped in to stop it are not from NYC. Why would I go and suffer certain bodily injury and possibly worse to break up someone else's fight? No one should do that if the situation on the video presents itself. You don't think one of those women could break your face or shove you onto the tracks?
This is nyc the best thing that I could do is call the police and those @H^JY@% did'nt even show up to stop it. So how much can we possible do, as you said we could get broken faces or arms or shoved into the tracks by women that weigh more than we do.Sorry if had been there they truly would have been on their own I might have kept an eye out for the baby but that's about it !
The lady in white is not all that big. I'm not sure why people are taking potshots at her size. She's tall and not skinny, but not fat either.
does anybody reading this know the woman in blue – if so make her read these comments so she can act better the next time she's out in public
Wow. We got a good number of comments in our subway app about this fight. I guess fights are a good way to generate content for a social transit app. Who wants to do the next one? If you want the free iPhone app, check out app.net/roadify
The lady in blue clearly started the physical fight. Notice how she waited to pepper spray the other women until the train doors were just opening. I don't think she anticipated a retaliation. She was practically singing, "real rude B, real Fing rude B" when she thought she was going to stroll out the doors after macing her. She deserved everything she got, and more.
In u ass a! ! ! ! ! !
