Angel Ortiz, better known by his graffiti name LAII, is done painting illegally, but admits it’s an addiction that won’t be easy to quit. “I’m hanging up the gloves,” said the 44-year-old Downtown art fixture to The Local. “No more spray painting in the streets. I don’t know how I’m going to do it.” LA credits his change of heart with the time he had to serve at Rikers Island recently, after getting arrested three times in a short period of time for tagging up a few spots, mostly in the East Village.
