The Lower East Side’s Orchard Windows Gallery has neighborhood parents very upset because their children are getting a gander at painted gang bangs on the way home from PS 42. Hampton artist Nick Weber defends his work, saying that kids are exposed “to much worse” these days, like “people getting shot on TV.” (NSFW)

Ahem. This is why it’s different than the last time someone complained about an “explicit” show at an LES gallery: It’s not just some headless nipples discomforting schoolboys. These are spread, nude broads chock-full of cock, just around the corner from an elementary school, which is obviously not the best scenario. Also, the gallery owner Dino Eli seems to be exaggerating the fracas surrounding his exhibit, telling a tabloid that “The police officer said that the schools and the church nearby complained” and  “this is the third time the cops came,” while an NYPD spokesman said he wasn’t aware of any complaints. So, publicity could have been a curatorial motivation here.
