Over the weekend, we ran into Chelsea Elliott, the Brooklyn resident who was one of several women that found themselves being fenced in by the NYPD and pepper sprayed during an Occupy Wall St protest march near Union Square on Saturday.
She says the police overreacted and needlessly escalated the situation. But that didn’t deter her from rejoining activists downtown several hours later. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne, not surprisingly, disputes the authenticity of the video thats been making the rounds online and claims the footage has been edited, naturally. UPDATE: Hacker group Anonymous has identified the pepper spraying officer.

It's pretty sad that it's become acceptable and even encouraged to go about our "innocent lives" without giving a flying rat's ass what consequences that might bring about, and who might be impacted by them. You're innocent when you educate yourself before you make a decision, and make that decision with the intention of doing as little harm to any one or thing as possible.
