According to a “shocking” new NYPD study, the iPhone is the most stolen device by NYC transit-riding thieves and the Daily News reports that it accounts for “over 70% of all stolen cell phones on subway and buses.”

A few months back, the police said there was a 17% spike in subway crime specifically because of coveted gadgets like iPods, which sounds a lot like this 2005 article, where yet again, the Apple-branded device is tops the list of items criminals would rather take than pay for. Perhaps their strategy isn’t working so well? (Photo: 2005 NYPD PSA/ellyjonez/flickr)
