Moleskine co was surprised when Russian Nashi Party’s creepy nationalist youth camp Seliger listed it as a major sponsor on their website. While they only agreed to quietly donate 30 of their very hip notebooks, they were practically billed as generous Nashi supporters. Russian bloggers called for a boycott and burnings of Moleskine “Kremlin propaganda tools.” Oops.
Moleskine issued a public correction. Hilariously, Seliger reps attempted to convince the Italian notebook makers that their camp was “not political,” despite being organized by Nashists. Last year, they made cut-outs of journalist “liars, falsifiers, and those who blacken our homeland’s reputation,” stuck their heads on pikes and topped them with Wehrmacht caps. “Not political,” ey?
