MTA Considers Option It Could Never Afford: Protected Platforms

Hoping to cut down on the amount of trash and people that land on the tracks, the cash-strapped MTA is looking into the use of mechanical doors along subway platforms that only open after a train has pulled into a station reports the Daily News. It’s a safety measure currently used for the AirTrain and other monorail systems, but would officially mark the wussification of NYC should they ever be installed.
