Channeling a tactic used by pranksters and street artists alike, NBC modified statues throughout the city, except they got permission and paid $120,000 for the right to do so. The network had capes placed on thirty statues as part of marketing campaign to promote its new superhero show “The Cape.” Historical icons like Christopher Columbus, George Washington and Harriet Tubman (pictured), will wear the black cloaks that surprisingly have yet to be stolen by homeless people.
