It’s almost been a week since the semi-clandestine siege of Liberty Plaza and the fallout continues… for the NYPD. State Senator and retired police captain, Eric Adams, says cops acted improperly when they seized protester’s property without issuing receipts for any of it.
In many cases, their belongings were destroyed altogether. Adams is demanding that the City Council hold hearings.
Civil rights lawyer Normal Siegel is very troubled by the events of that night and said it was “unseemly for the city, through its police department, to deny journalists their right to report the news.” Despite the virtual media blackout instituted by police, I managed to capture some of the action and as you can see, there wasn’t much care given to people’s property.
