Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is starting to understand that it’s probably not a good idea to have officers tricking the public during small-time weed busts and has circulated internal directives ordering them to cut the shit. As you’ve undoubtedly heard, for a long time now, the police have been routinely flouting the law and arresting people for small amounts of weed that’s not in public view on trumped-up misdemeanor charges instead of issuing civil citations like the statue mandates.

In many instances, it happens when a suspect is merely following a cop’s orders. That of course explains why there was over 50,000 pot-related busts last year alone. With small time weed busts surging, this couldn’t have come at a better time. (Click image to enlarge)
