Park Circle, Brooklyn’s downright British roundabout, has been greatly improved by the DOT. The agency has not only added bike lanes to help cyclists get through the traffic circle of doom, but also has added a horse lane too.
The lane is there to aid any police horses trying to get through to Prospect Park and to help any Windsor Terrace residents on their way to a polo match.
The DOT says that travel times have decreased because of the magical horse lanes. They’ve been there for a while without any notice — kind of the opposite of what happened with the ones designed for cyclists. As you may recall, wealthy residents were all up in arms about the Prospect Park West bike lane, but I guess that makes sense. Poor people don’t ride horses.
