A couple of NYC taxi medallions bought in the 1980s for $80k a piece have just been sold for $1 million each. That’s $200,000 more than some previous ones and a new record. Back in 1937 when the medallions were originally sold by the city, they sold for a mere $10, which is the equivalent of $157.50 in 2011, making them quite the lucrative investment.
