When you’re a police officer, it’s usually not a good idea to break the law, because it garners lots of unwanted attention, but that’s exactly what happened to a bunch of cops caught up in the great ticket-fixing scandal.
A total of 17 officers were indicted so far and some of them were heard using “overtly racist language,” on wiretaps relating to the investigation according to a source who spoke to the Daily News. Another source tells the paper, “That’s how a lot of cops talk. The difference here is, it’s all on tape.”
Interesting. That may explain why the NYPD had to publish new internal guidelines for officers, asking them not use “stereotypes which are based on a person’s race, color, ethnicity, hairstyle, clothing, or physical appearance” when approaching a crime scene. (Photo: glenn Q/flickr)
