There Will Be Some Sort of Protest on Wall Street

Revolutions are sweeping across the Middle East and so it’s inevitable that America’s armchair activists will try to attach themselves to the rebels in their own special way. That day is coming in the form of a “Wall Street Occupation” on September 17th.

On the protests’ website, there is no central organization leading the protest, it says “Like our brothers and sisters in Egypt, Greece, Spain, and Iceland, we plan to use the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic of mass occupation to restore democracy in America.” The various groups coming to this jamboree in Lower Manhattan have yet to decide what their really protesting, so they’re polling their Facebook following for the answer.

This is a good idea, but needs some major organizing.

We’re all for democracy, but unless these people find something to steer them in some (or any) direction, Wall Street is going to look like Bonnaroo without any music playing.
