Now that everyone has noticed East London-based Mexican artist Pablo Delgado’s low-street-level paste-ups of Lilliputians in burqas, monk robes and skanky wears, journalists are asking what’s with all the little hookers. “They are not really a comment on prostitution itself… The prostitutes represent what is happening in East London – with the Olympics everyone is trying to sell themselves,” Delgado says. True, and there will be more business for hookers. He says he likes the distressed look of his older, dirt-speckled, peeling little people from all the weather, pedestrian wear and tear… and whatnot.
