HBO series True Blood interjected a funny bit of social commentary about internet giant Google and right wing media machine Fox News in its latest episode.
Explaining why vampires have historically infiltrated the priesthood and other influential human orders to one of his dismayed sheriffs, King Bill Compton had this to say:
Vampires have often found it advantageous to maintain a hidden presence in humanity’s most powerful institutions. In the 1600s, it was the Catholic church, and today, as you all know, it’s Google, Fox News.
Specifically, the O’Reilly Factor and Sean Hannity’s show.

If anything, this is a compliment to Fox News! Fox obliterates CNN and MSNBC (anyone ever heard of them?) combined, consistently in the ratings, and is beginning to define news and commentary more and more in our society. As prominent as Google is, so is Fox News, which is why Bill Compton put them together. Deal with it, Fox News haters!
That's one angle. But he also mentioned the Catholic Church, so I believe the point was corruption and iiesl, not "fair and balanced."

Right wing media machine Fox News ? You never hear CNN, ABC, MSNBC, CBS, NBC referred to as Left wing media machine but this is all part of the bias that is put out on entertainment industry that more and more people are coming to realize. Reminds me of how the Nazi used propaganda like this to influence people.
So five entities which are all competing for capital seem just as much of a "media machine" as one big giant corporation on the other side? An analogy is going to the playground. There are five children, none of them like each other at all, but they're telling you that one other kid, a much larger one, is being mean and unfair. The larger kid in turn says, "No, they're all conspiring against me together!" as you look over and see they're all fighting with each other.
None of the aforementioned news agencies are balanced. You are better off getting cable and watching foreign news services, like BBC, al jazeera, and if you are multi-lingual, even better. Limiting yourselves to US News is akin to sticking your heads in the sand. Also, start reading the Economist for solid, fact-based and in-depth knowledge on current affairs. So says the Yank based in Germany!

Virtue is always defined as somewhere in between extremes. The problem is knowing how to draw the virtuous line. Virtue is balance. One extreme: each one of us covers its own back….The other extreme: a few cover everybodies' back. Solidarity is GOOD…Assistentialism is BAD. For some it can be just the contrary I said. MY OPINION is: Solidarity with the poor BUT not forever and certainly not in a way that makes everyone and each of us lazy. Hello people. It's a TV show made to entertain. The sad part is how many people believe in FOX news, now that's entertainment. The Catholic Church is slowly down in the ratings. Maybe it's because people finally realize Jesus Christ is DEAD. He died two thousand years ago and everything thing after that is a show …a story written to entertain. The Evangelicals are the crazies, they are the new comedy show. The stuff they come up with is laughable if it isn't so pathetic in this day and age. Dinosaurs lived 5K years ago along with the cavemen…Now that's a story only they can write…a lot more action and drama than a Vampire in True Blood.
