Since ANIMAL has been loyally covering Russia’s activist art group Voina, we’ve discovered a second “Voina.” Now, the Voina we know for dick bombing a bridge and being in jail and in hiding is boycotting the 4th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art for exhibiting “the impostors.”
Voina reps declare that the “impostor” Kiss the Cops stunt is in the Biennale “as revenge” on the notorious art group. However, the Biennale curators refuse to remove the video. This clip also appeared in Banksy’s Antics Roadshow, and Voina members wrote to ANIMAL to clarify that they had nothing to do with this “repressionist-rapey sucking of cop mugs.”
Every time the second “Voina” members Pyotr Verzilov and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova appeared in the press for a stunt like pretending to set cockroaches lose in a court room during a high profile censorship trial, Voina press master A. Plutser and active members Oleg Vorotnikov and Leonid Nikolaev would viciously deny affiliation with them, telling us these were former members and “exiled traitors.” When ANIMAL made contact with said “imposters,” they also claimed to be founding members and claimed their “right” to perform as Voina. It’s messy, right? Stay tuned.
Here’s Voina’s original reaction to the stunt:
We have to inform you that the Voina Group has nothing to do with the action engaging young girls kissing female police officers. So “Лобзай мусора” is not ours. Well, you probably guessed it at once. First of all, it’s not an action at all. It’s a weak flesh mob. Second, it just cannot compare with such Voina actions as Dick captured by KGB or Palace revolution. We make massive, monumental art. Besides, it’s obvious that the Voina Group would never kiss policemen. We prefer to fuck them with our 65-meter-Dick!
