There’s a very unsanitary public space in Manhattan that could use a thorough scrubbing, but it’s not located a few blocks north of Wall Street, and is more likely to be occupied by rats than people. We’re of course talking about the Chambers Street subway station below City Hall. It’s dingy, stinks of urine, and unlike Zuccotti Park, doesn’t have anyone giving it the attention it needs. Anyway, can you please clean up your basement Mr. Mayor?

is that station still in use?
It's used quite a lot! mostly by civic workers going back home to Brooklyn. I used to use it when I worked near City Hall – these photos don't even quite convey how stinkingly awful it is.
