Oh, of course MGM is adapting a series of non-narrative children picture books into a live-action feature film. Oh, and, of course, the CEO of Classic Media productions introduces his pitch like so: “Waldo is the most searched-for character in the world.” Oh, chortle chortle. Egh.
Apparently, there have been attempts to movie-fy Waldo and his twincesty buddy Wilma since the ’90s. Oh, sure, perhaps this is not as morally troubling as a 3D action adventure thriller about combat in Iraq. We do live in a world where Adam Sandler is making wacko-crap comedies identical to the wacko-crap comedies he parodied in Funny People, just two years ago, so… sigh. C’est la vie. C’est public demand.
