The Queensboro Bridge officially opened to the public on March 30, 1909 and now 102 years later, it doesn’t even exist according to Wikipedia… well at least its NYC entry doesn’t. Although the City Council did pass the bill to rename the bridge, Mayor Bloomberg still hasn’t signed it into law. But that didn’t stop the community sourcing website from stripping its title and redirecting (web) traffic to this one: Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.
Adding insult to injury, this span, which bears the Queensboro Bridge name, now gets top billing, but it is located in British Columbia, Canada. This beef has just gone international. (Photo: NY Historical Society/Facebook)
