For their latest stunt, popular interventionists Improv Everywhere sent a bunch of participants to a Manhattan dollar store to “camp out” before Black Friday, then rush in and buy things as soon as the store opened. The joke, of course, is that this kind of place, everything is already cheap, and even with huge discounts, you’re only saving a few cents.

It’s a sly critique of our shopping-obsessed culture, and all in good fun–though towards the end of the above video, things start to feel a hair condescending: Watch as the fake news reporter interviews the incredulous shopkeeper, who has no idea why so many people would come to his store! Though as long as all those people were actually buying things, the guy’s economic boon probably outweighs any negatives.
