ANIMAL’s favorite new animation collective is back, big time, with its own screening event at the New Museum tomorrow at 3pm. How do we put this most eloquently? Artist and curator Casey Jane Ellison’s brings the weird stuff.
No, really. The large and varied work packed into Aboveground Animation — “a video collection, an artist community, and a roving exhibition platform” — is as bizarre as any Paul McCarthy video, but without the limitation of live-action. It was quite the crude, lewd, psychedelic, psychotic trip into 3D animation at Ramiken Crucible. Come again. Watch your head.
