Now’s your chance. BoroughBees is looking for a few good men and women. They’ve put out a call for “12 volunteer beekeeping apprentices” to help maintain about 20 hives on a rooftop apiary in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The program runs from April through October (or November) and participants will be required to put in “an average of 3-4 weekend hours per week.” The compensation is knowledge and if there is any, honey—virgins hives “sometimes produce little or no harvestable honey.” Applications are to be sent via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) until March 21. Although no experience is necessary, “ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate some degree of knowledge,” so better do some Googling beforehand.
