Those highly annoying screens in the back of yellow cabs that no one likes or uses, but everyone bumps their knees on, may actually become useful space. A company in San Francisco (Square, the people who make the little white cubes that turn iPhones and iPads into point-of-sale machines) is proposing an idea to the TLC that would replace Taxi TV with tablet-like computers.
This would enable passengers to use games, apps, and other frivolous things they could access by swiping their credit card, even though all they really want is wireless. Baby steps. (Photo: Gautam Guliani/flickr)
