In an interview with ArtInfo, Uri Aran hints at what he’s preparing for Frieze New York. Inspired by the giant hospital on Randall’s Island, where the fair is to be held from May 4 to May 7, Aran is planning some doctor’s visits. “My proposal is to work in an abandoned ticket shack…Within that space, a kind of medical examination will be performed at different times during each day of the fair.”

If the idea of the artist snapping on latex gloves in a shack has you worried, fear not: he’s not interested in you. “Rather than use real people, I’m making a point by bringing in actors…There will be a pretty straightforward doctor’s examination going on, while I shoot it on video… The live video feed might be manipulated, if only a little bit, like slowing it down a fraction. It will refer to the notion of a televised doctor.” As for the participants in this staged physical? Says Aran, “I’m still working on the casting.”
