The highlight of the Figment public art show on Governors Island seems to have been Hack Manhattan’s Brain Pong. The group has been tinkering with new modulations in the last few weeks and rigged a few heads to a 6-foot-by-8-foot board of lights using an electroencephalogram headset that measured brain activity.
Participants made the paddle move. With their brains. Oh. My. God.
Well, not exactly. You can’t really control directional movement of the paddle. It bounces the ball itself. You do have to flex your mind to make the paddle work at all, however, and if the brain frequencies go weak, the paddle will simply stop moving and you lose and everyone thinks you’re dumb. Maybe.
Oh hey, here’s their Kickstarter!
