The mayor of Nogent-sur-Marne in France has commissioned a 6.5 foot statue of a factory worker to honor the Italian immigrants who labored in the region in the 19th century. He also wants the artist Elisabeth Cibot to give it Carla Bruni’s face. It’s not a bad face or anything, but maybe, the super-rich wife of a conservative Prez isn’t the best likeness to transplant onto the representational body of the heroic proletariat.

Or, maybe it is.

Maybe the Italian-born Bruni-face on this statue would send an awesome message of hope to the struggling immigrant working class: You too can succeed in life. Just make good impression on a high-ranking government official during a fancy dinner party!

Or not.
