In an valiant effort to appeal to non-old people, Art Basel is set to host “Moving the Still: A Festival of GIFS,” the “first ever large-scale open call and exhibition of original GIF art.”

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Graphics Interchangeable Format, the installation will combine both digital and physical manifestations of the little flickering images we all know and love. The showcase is presented by Tumblr and online art-venue Paddle8 and will feature GIFs selected by Michael Stipe, Richard Phillips, the sisters behind Rodarte, James Frey and more.

The online contest is open to anyone, but make sure to submit yours before the submission form closes on November 7th. Selected works are featured on the project’s blog. The winners will be announced on November 26th and are to be displayed as part of the live exhibition in Miami this December.
