What if Chrissie Hynde, singer for the Pretenders and veritable Queen of the New Wave, married Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols? This short animation, narrated by Matt Pinfield of MTV’s “120 Minutes,” just how close the world was to that kind of punk dynasty. The two were friends in London, where Hynde desperately wanted to stay. The pair concocted a plan to wed so Hynde could get a green card that would allow her to continue living in England, where the Pretenders were just beginning to cut their teeth as a band, but City Hall was closed. They rescheduled for the next day, but—whoops!—Vicious stabbed a dude with a bottle and spent what would have been his wedding day in jail. Things worked out for Hynde, though, as we all know, and she went on to dominate the world and have really neat little animations made about her almost-nuptials.
