With Clip’s looming Serbian release, director Maja Miloš previews one of the scenes that make up the film — an interaction shot by the young actors themselves on cellphone camers. This is her star, Isidora Simijonovic, being unsettling — from her convincing panting to her awkward dirty talk.
Opening in Serbia shortly, Clip is a gritty look at the dismal reality of Serbia’s urban life and its youth, their escapist partying and their “matter-of-fact” attitude about sex. Despite its obnoxiously baiting shock value — the director promised “realistic” sex scenes with “prosthetic” props — it does seem like a whole new breed of film.
