For his first meeting as a member of the MTA board, former Governor David Paterson will be taking the subway. Given his new position, Paterson is placing a priority on getting to know the system he’ll be working for. “I thought it was necessary that I get a sense of what riders are experiencing and feeling”, he said. It’s a commendable resolution, given that the former governor is legally blind–he had a friend help him learn how to use it to get around while studying at Columbia University. Having fired his car service several weeks ago, Paterson has been riding the Subway since.
