At about 1:30 this morning, a woman was crossing Broadway at 14th Street when she was hit by a blue garbage truck the driver of which was evidently unaware of having hit anyone. A witness told reporters, “I saw a girl walking that way…and the truck hit her. And she was just on the ground. He stopped at the next light, he didn’t know, I think he didn’t know.” The woman was taken to Beth Israel hospital, where she died. (Photo: Mike Innocenzi/Flickr)

Not the first time this year- another woman was killed in the early morning by a speeding garbage truck on the upper east next to the Gug. It apparently was a gruesome accident.
