Samuel Schwartz aka Gridlock Sam aka Why-Is-Anyone-Still-Listening-to-This-Decades-Old-Traffic-Commissioner-Person (he served from 1982-86), wants to see tolls on all the East River bridges, and not just for drivers, but cyclists too. He’s suggesting a 50 cent charge for bikes each way. CBS News reports that his plan is “starting to pick up steam” and although they don’t mention by whom, they do suggest a reason why, “maybe because it goes after everyone.”
