For his latest painting, Michael D’Antuono takes on Grover Norquist, the conservative lobbyist who is most against making the super rich paying a little more in taxes. The artist depicts Norquist as a hellish Wizard of Oz, his bulbous green head floating over a blazing GOP elephant idol with presumed millionaires worshiping at  the altar. Oh, please, please, won’t you make the Republican party sign the pledge so the taxes may never rise on the ultra wealthy again?

D’Antuono explains Who the Hell is Grover Norquist?

He is the lobbyist whose Svengali-like control over the GOP has forbidden them to end the Bush tax cuts for the rich, creating unpresedented gridlock and putting them in a very “uncompromising position” negotiating the fiscal cliff.

Hey, this one is not bad. Usually, we have a bone to pick with D’Antuono because of that bombastically exaggerated, melodramatic, and ultimately unhelpful way he depicted the Trayvon Martin murder case, not to mention that vision of Obama on a cliff holding a decapitated head of Osama Bin Laden’s decapitated, bullet-ridden head to the backdrop of a sunset and a waving American flag… But this one isn’t too over the top, comparatively, and makes much more sense.
