Ah, man, look at these kids frolicking in the street with their ribbons, their soap bubbles, their fighting sticks and…cigarettes. Aren’t they just adorable?

Renowned street photographer Helen Levitt’s best known series of kids is going on display tonight at the Laurence Miller Gallery in New York. The show spans decades, from the late ’30s through the ’80s as well as some sepia toned shots of street urchins in Mexico, for contrast, lest you start feeling bad about how their streets don’t look so nice.
