Six years ago it was announced that three years ago, the High Bridge–our city’s oldest bridge, connecting the Bronx and Washington Heights, and closed since the 70s–would reopen for pedestrians. However, the announced renovations never happened, and the bridge remained closed long after 2009–the year it was supposed to be reopened.

Now, the High Bridge is set to open in 2013–but this time, renovations are set to begin, and 2013 is a date we can look forward to. At the very least, I’ll be looking forward to it–the High Bridge Tower is one of the coolest sights in Manhattan.

It takes a long time for things to happen in this town.
