Eric Boehm, the USS Intrepid’s Curator of Aviation, explains some of the structural modifications the museum’s crew is making to the aircraft carrier in preparation for the arrival of Space Shuttle Enterprise. He assures ANIMAL that despite the weight of the orbiter-that-never-was, the ship will not tip over, which should come as a relief to the many people who were worried about that happening. Boehm also explains the massive undertaking that it’s going to take to get Enterprise onto the deck of the Intrepid, a feat that will require two barges.
