How to Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

11.06.12 Marina Galperina

If you want to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, including those in the most devastated areas, please volunteer or donate money or supplies or to local organizations with boots on the ground like Occupy Sandy.

The relief effort needs: blankets, candles, flashlights, lights, water, food, batteries, diapers and wipes, gloves and masks, rubber, boots, shovels, cleaning supplies and bleach, trash bags, serving dishes and utensils, warm winter clothing like jackets, hats and gloves. Items that will last it through the storm coming this Wednesday are most needed — flashlights, candles, batteries, thermal blankets and clothing.

Please bring the much needed supplies to the donation and distribution center at 520 Clinton Avenue in Brooklyn. Neighbors, we’re collecting supplies at the ANIMAL office at 595 11th Ave in Manhattan, between 44th and 45th Streets, from now until 4pm.

Occupy Sandy has been organizing city-wide, volunteer-based recovery efforts. Follow their Twitter account to see where else you can help.
