Moving anything in NYC sucks, even space shuttles. Originally scheduled to have been at it’s new home aboard the Intrepid at about the time of this post, the Enterprise’s move has been set back a day. The shuttle sustained minor cosmetic damage to its right wing when a burst of wind caused it to graze against the supports of the railroad bridge a few hundred yards before the Cross Bay Memorial Bridge.
Monday’s rainy weather also resulted in unsuitable conditions for transferring the shuttle to a crane-equipped barge necessary for its placement on the Intrepid. The final leg of the journey has been rescheduled to Wednesday, weather permitting.
