Intense Snowstorms in NYC Are the Arctic's Fault

A new climate study that will confound the likes of Fox News’ Sean Hannity, indicates that warmer Arctic summers may be responsible for creating acute cold weather events in the northern hemisphere, such as the massive blizzard that walloped the city in 2011.

“[W]hen you start to consider that five of the largest snowstorms for NYC occurred over the past 10 years … that becomes harder to explain by chance alone. Instead there must be a reason and the reason we propose is the warm Arctic and the subsequent increase in fall snow cover,” said lead researcher Judah Cohen. In other words, increasingly extreme snowstorms are the result of global warming, not proof that it doesn’t exist. (Photo: @dceiver/yfrog)
